Any great love story beings with two people madly in love. This past spring, I was able to write an enchanting love story with a team of extraordinarily talented vendors. As a result, we brought life and creative reimagining to a brand new Chicago wedding venue. This story is Fairlie Chicago: a modern love story.
Spring is a time of rebirth and rejuvenation and the setting for many great love stories. Fairlie Chicago offers a unique juxtaposition between the old and the new. The dark and the light. XO Design Co dreamed of mixed metals, the utilization of caging and soft lush flowers. Coupled with distinctive brick walls and concrete floors a true modern romance emerged. Of course, a beautiful scene would not be complete without an equally beautiful bride and groom. Being Joy Photography captured this beautiful inspirational experience. With an eye for composition and lighting, Joy captured a modern, edgy and romantic wedding experience.
When planning an inspirational wedding experience, the sky is truly the limit. There is no right or wrong. Vendors are able to simply experiment, have fun and be creative. Moreover, these inspirational wedding experiences create new wedding trends. The inspiration would not be complete without a thoughtful invitation suite, provided by Emery Ann Design that tied all of the elements together. It is important to know the timeline needed to order invitations and paper goods. If you are in the process of ordering your paper goods, you can check out this in-depth article I wrote about invitations.
In reality, ceremony spaces almost embody a sacred space. A place where two people are coming together and committing their lives. Long are the days of only being able to get married in a house of worship. Literally any place on the planet could become a ceremony location. Clients have gotten married under a tree, on a riverbank, and most recently, I am planning an intimate ceremony in the Garden Center at Home Depot. More to come on that later! The ceremony space at the Fairlie served as a focal point for modern metal elements and lush floral.
When picking a wedding gown, it is important to select a gown that embodies the vision of the wedding day but also compliments the decor, the venue and the season. Nothing screams mismatch than a fully beaded crystal 200lb dress on a beach in Mexico. Delilah looked beautiful in this Maggie Sottero gown provided to us by The Crystal Bride. In particular, the delicate lace complemented the hard, modern elements of the venue. In conjunction with the importance of the gown, hair and makeup also play an integral part of the wedding day look. Mariefel Westa chose a soft updo to compliment the natural makeup provided by AG Skin Atelier.
Connor filled the role of the groom in a superbly stunning suit provided by Formally Modern. His striking features, strong jawline and piercing eyes resembled the strong features of the Fairlie. Generally speaking, while all eyes might be on the bride, her eyes are only on the groom. Together, this pair of professional models fit the vision of the urban, modern and edgy couple that we were striving for.
Finally, Marquee Event Rentals masterfully picked an entire tablescape of modern elements yet softened them with light shades of grey and purple linens. Sweets are always a welcome treat at a wedding or event! Delish Cakes did not disappoint with a stunning modern and geometric cake that tasted as good as it looked! The look was only enhanced by the stunning floral decor provided by the extremely talented XO Design Co.
Obviously, inspiration is great! However, if you are looking for real wedding examples of blending modern wedding elements, please check out Lindsey’s wedding or Cassie’s wedding at the Brix. Another trend would be blending both modern and rustic, which was masterfully done at Dana’s wedding a few months ago at The Haight.
