Cassie and I go way back. Like two generations back. During in World War 2, our grandfathers, Neil & Owen, served together in the United States Army as Rangers. Neil and Owen safely made it back home, and their friendship continued to grow. When they got married, their wives (our grandmothers) became fast friends. During the summers, the two families basically raised their children together. Summers filled with play dates, Ranger reunions and making memories, together. Over the years, life got busy and my generation (Cassie and I) did not spend as much time together. We would have our yearly get togethers, but that was about it.
When Cassie told me she was getting married, I was very happy for her but did not think that I would actually help her plan and execute her big day. It was actually a pleasant surprise. She told me that she interviewed other planners but still wanted to chat with me. Cassie had recently become a mom to a beautiful daughter and was busy with motherhood, owning a business with her fiance, Randy and running a home. Planning a wedding was possible, but Cassie knew she needed help with what she didn’t know. In my opinion, it takes a very astute person to fully understand their strengths and their weaknesses. Cassie has way more strength than weakness. I would just help fill in the missing pieces.
Cassie and Randy had a very specific vision for their October 2018 wedding and my job was to make sure that their vision came to life. We even ordered 400 sets of gold flatware because nothing available fit her vision! I always ask my couples what is their priority? Do they want to have an intimate ceremony and reception? Is a gourmet meal important? Is dancing the night away an important feature? Beyond the obvious love fest, the overall aesthetic, and guest experience stood out to Cassie and Randy as their number 1 priority.
Congratulations, Cassie and Randy! I wish you both a lifetime of love and happiness. You both know how to throw one heck of a party.
